A US House of Representatives panel has cast a vote to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for not releasing an unredacted copy of the report on Russian election meddling.
The judiciary committee embarked on the bold step as tensions rose over Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s findings.
Earlier, Trump used his executive privilege for the first time to hide the report’s disclosure.
The White House and Congress both accused each other of abusing power.
Although Mr Mueller’s report did not conclude that there was any criminal conspiracy between Moscow and the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 US presidential election.
